Art Blakey was one of the biggest drummers in Jazz music. For me, he had a defining style of swing characterized by brilliant ride work. In his carrer he worked with just about all of the greatest musicians. He is also well known for assembling the Jazz Messengers, a young musicians ensamble, many of whom came to be huge jazz stars.
